Ethnic Skin

The ethnic population of patients seeking treatment for their skin is ever increasing. This special group includes Latino, African-American, Indian, Asian and those of Middle-Eastern decent. Many skin conditions, such as keloids or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation are more common in certain ethnic backgrounds. Risks for skin cancer can vary from group to group. It is important that these issues be recognized and addressed specifically with each patient. Depending on Fitzpatric skin type, treatment regimens can be quite different for each person. Dr. Bakshandeh has had extensive training and experience treating ethnic skin and the various conditions that are exclusive to this group.
