Neurotoxins are purified proteins that are used for relaxing muscles on the face, mainly around the eyes and forehead. BOTOX®, DYSPORT, and JEUVEAU are all FDA approved and have been safely used for many years. Common areas of treatment are the crow’s feet, glabellar lines or elevens, and the wrinkles on the forehead. Because the needle used is so small, pain is minimal and no anesthetic is required. Some patients may experience some minor bruising at the injection site. About 5 days after this procedure the treated area becomes relaxed giving the face a rejuvenated and well-rested appearance while still allowing normal facial expression. Results last about 4 months, and after repeated treatments, injections can be spaced out even longer.
